Events planned to commemorate holiday lights

Butler — The Spirit of Christmas parade will bring festivities to Butler’ Main Street on Saturday, Nov. 29. Activities take place from 2 to 5 p.m., with the parade afterward.

Chicora — Christmas in Chicora will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, where there will be a craft show throughout the borough. There also will be a parade at 3 p.m. Saturday through the borough.

Cranberry Township — Santa Claus will kick off the holiday season in Cranberry Township during Santa’s First Stop, set for 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, at the Municipal Center and Armstrong Great Lawn. The event will feature the annual tree lighting with Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, Christmas caroling by the Dutilh Choir, a Steel City LUG Lego display, and a “Polar Express Experience,” hosted by the Cranberry Township Early Learning Center.

Evans City — The borough will have a Light Up Night starting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 29. Santa will be coming in from the North Pole to help start off the season. After the lights have been lit, he will be at the fire hall for pictures and refreshments. Donations for Isaiah 117 House will be collected.

Mars — Light Up Mars takes place from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 29, in the borough. There will be crafts and vendors stationed throughout the borough, and the tree lighting takes place at 5:30 p.m., which will be followed by a parade at 6 p.m.

Saxonburg — Festivities begin at 5 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 28, with a holiday market, featuring local artisans, food and drink vendors. At 7 p.m., the holiday parade kicks off from the Saxonburg Carnival Grounds, lighting up the evening with decorated floats, whimsical displays and performances by community groups and local businesses. Plus, Santa Claus will close out the parade on his sleigh.

Slippery Rock — Slippery Rock borough’s Light Up Night will start at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, on Main Street. Visitors can shop vendors, play games, hear live music and watch the tree lighting. For more information, visit Slippery Rock Development’s Facebook page.
