Valencia chooses 2 incumbents for council
Two incumbents kept their seats on Valencia Borough Council, following the general election on Tuesday, Nov. 4, according to unofficial election results reported in Butler County Bureau of Elections summary reports.
Joshua Zimmerman was chosen for a four-year term and Shanon McKenna was selected for a two year seat. Another write-in candidate hopes to fill yet another two-year term.
Zimmerman and McKenna had both been listed as competing for the four-year term on the ballot.
Zimmerman came out on top with 126 votes, or 56.5% of the vote, in the four year race, according to the unofficial results in the summary report.
However, McKenna also appeared as the only named candidate in a race for two one-year seats, and in this race, he gathered 144 votes, or 61% of the vote. There were also 92 write-in votes.
Another incumbent, Roger Grey initially decided not to run for reelection but was convinced to change his mind. This came after the deadline to put his name on the ballot, forcing him to run a write-in campaign.
