Police: Owner of cow on I-79 unknown
State police released more information on the cow reported Wednesday morning, Oct. 8, on Interstate 79.
State police were notified of a cow in the median near mile marker 81 on I-79 around 7:05 a.m., according to Trooper Bertha Cazy, Troop D public information officer. She said emergency services had already received multiple calls about the cow at that time.
Cazy said after causing a “major traffic backlog,” the cow was safely loaded and transported to a local farm around 10:10 a.m.
Police did not uncover where the cow came from. No local farmers claimed responsibility for the cow, Cazy said.
Cranberry Township police responded to the incident and declined to comment further. New Sewickley Fire District in Beaver County also responded.
