A Cranberry Township man had assault and strangulation charges withdrawn after being accused of attacking a woman after he crashed into her parked car while driving under the influence of alcohol.

Two misdemeanor DUI counts and five summary counts were held for court against Mark Andrew Reisert, 58, in a preliminary hearing Friday before District Judge Joseph Nash.

Police alleged Reisert crashed a Toyota Camry into a neighbor’s car while intoxicated shortly after midnight May 25 in the 20000 block of Route 19. Police said his blood alcohol content when apprehended was 0.178%. The legal limit in Pennsylvania is 0.08%.

According to police, when the neighbor confronted Reisert, he struck her multiple times and attempted to strangle her. Another neighbor then reportedly came to help and struck Reisert in the face twice before he fled.

The struggle with the neighbors resulted in a felony aggravated assault charge and one misdemeanor charge each of strangulation and simple assault, all of which were withdrawn Friday.

A judge has issued a no contact order between Reisert and the two neighbors.

Reisert’s bail was originally set at $50,000 and was lowered to $25,000 at a June 6 hearing. His bond was adjusted again Friday to be unsecured.

Reisert’s formal arraignment before Judge Timothy McCune is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 18 in Courtroom 1. He’s represented by attorney Benjamin Levine.
