Former legislator named state rural development director

U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins announced Monday, May 19, that President Donald Trump has appointed former Luzerne County state Rep. Michael Cabell to serve as the USDA rural development state director for Pennsylvania.

State directors serve as the chief executive officer of USDA Rural Development in the states and carry out the mission of Rural Development to benefit rural Americans.

State directors are responsible for advancing the priorities of the administration and the secretary of agriculture.
