New drive-through coffee shop planned for Adams Township shopping center

Businessman Ray Nelson speaks during an Adams Township supervisors meeting Monday, May 12. William Pitts/Butler Eagle

ADAMS TWP — Local developer Ray Nelson received approval for a new addition to his shopping center on Route 228, which is planned to include a drive-through coffee shop and other retail shopping options.

To make room for the new coffee shop, Nelson intends to move one of his own businesses — Nelson Kitchen & Bath — into another building. The kitchen and bath shop will move into another building toward the rear of the shopping center which is currently being used for storage, while the new coffee shop will use the old Kitchen & Bath space.

The shopping center, called Adams Town Center, which is on Route 228 near the Adams Area Fire District, also includes Fleming Tire & Auto and Supremo’s Pizzeria.

“This is a plan we’ve been working on many years,” Nelson said. “We basically want to move our store to the back and make a nice drive-through coffee shop right on 228, and attract a couple of other nice retailers.”

It currently is unknown which coffee business is targeted to occupy the space. However, Nelson said, “It’s going to be a drive-through coffee shop. There are only two big ones out there. I’m sure you can guess which one.”
