Female Eagle Scout recognized by Forward Township
FORWARD TWP — During their meeting on Thursday night, May 8, the township board of supervisors formally recognized Seneca Valley Senior High School freshman Emma Pichieri for her achievement of reaching Eagle Scout status last summer.
A large contingent of her fellow scouts from Boy Scout Troop 6405 at the Cranberry Elks Club were on hand to congratulate her as well.
Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouts BSA — formerly known as the Boy Scouts of America. The ranking system goes Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and then Eagle.
One of the requirements to make Eagle Scout is to complete a public service project. Pichieri’s was to organize a community service project to rebuild worn-out fire pits at Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer in Beaver County.
“I just want to say, it’s so good to see young ladies in scouting,” said Forward Township Supervisor Mark Wilson. “It’s a tremendous thing to see.”
For the Pichieris, scouting runs in the family. Emma is the fourth member of her family to reach Eagle Scout status, following in the footsteps of her brother Thomas, her uncle Al, and her father Tom.
“You’re an Eagle Scout, your son is an Eagle Scout, and now your daughter’s an Eagle Scout,” Wilson said to Emma’s father, who was also on hand at Thursday’s meeting. “You’ve got a whole nest of Eagle Scouts.
“You ought to be congratulated, because it takes parents to really get behind this. It’s quite an achievement.”
