Seneca Valley students earned 23 medals when the school’s academic decathlon team finished in third place at the 2025 United States Academic Decathlon National Competition.

The competition, which took place in Des Moines, Iowa, consisted of academic events based around literature, mathematics, art, economics, science, social science, music, essay, speech and interview.

“Every team member was required to participate in all 10 disciplines, making this one of the most well-rounded and demanding academic competitions in the country,” a Seneca Valley news release said.

According to the release, the academic decathlon team scored 45,497.3, its highest ever.
