SV Foundation plans Evans City school brick fundraiser
Seneca Valley community members will be able to remember the Evans City Elementary and Middle School with a piece of the former building.
Seneca Valley Foundation said Monday it is holding an Evans City school brick fundraiser. Amid ongoing demolition of the building, the foundation is giving out commemorative bricks salvaged from the site.
The foundation said the bricks are available for a $25 donation and feature a student-designed plaque that “pays tribute to the school’s rich history.”
The design, made by Seneca Valley High School senior Max Wagstaff, contains the motto: “Proud of the past, committed to the future.”
Evans City Elementary and Middle School served its community for 84 years before closing in 2022 with the opening of Ehrman Crest Elementary/Middle School. The 138,000 square-foot structure has been vacant since.
The district announced it would demolish the building last November, saying the cost of maintaining the space was a significant factor in the decision. Demolition began this spring.
