Dodds Road realignment to start May 16, earlier than expected

Motorists in Penn Township are advised the timeline for the planned Dodds Road realignment project has been moved four days earlier due to a change in circumstances.

Starting Thursday, May 16, Dodds Road will be closed from the Wetzel property at 611 Dodds Road to the Rockdale Road intersection to allow CRS Contracting to perform renovations on the road. These include raising the road above the Thorn Creek flood plain, installing new power poles and wiring, and making stormwater erosion improvements.

According to Penn Township supervisor Samuel Ward, there is a logistical reason for the four-day bump.

“We have an opportunity to deliver materials earlier to actually begin work on May 20,” Ward said. “We trust this short-term inconvenience will be a great improvement.”

Ward said the project was made possible in part by a Municipal Infrastructure Project grant from the state.

The project is expected to be finished by late July.
