Cowan

Wesley Victor Cowan III, 80, passed away on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at the Pittsburgh VA Hospital.

Born in Pittsburgh on Aug. 24, 1945, he was the son of Wesley Victor Cowan Jr. and Aurea Cassidy Cowan.

Wesley was raised on the North Side of Pittsburgh and in Cranberry Township, graduating from Evans City High School in 1963. One year later, he graduated from Duff’s Business School, and years later, Point Park College. Wes next joined the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. After his service, he spent many years working in real estate and building management. In retirement, he enjoyed driving a school bus for special needs children, politics and a good cigar.

Wesley was the beloved husband of Karen Cowan; loving father to his children, Renea Harrington (Timothy) and Wesley Victor Cowan IV; and loving grandfather to his grandson, Wesley Victor Cowan V. He is also survived by his siblings, Wayne Cowan and Marcia Johnson (Clarence).

If Wes were still with us here today, he would not say goodbye, he would say “You have fun.”

He will be deeply missed by his family and children.
