Butler rifle athletes earn all-tourney

DORMONT — Four members of Butler High School’s rifle team made the all-tournament team during Tuesday’s WPIAL team Championships.

Hayleigh Gorog, Hannah Beacon, Brianna Bell and Nate Aaron were among the all-tournament selections. Gorog’s score was 100.09 while Beacon, Bell and Aaron all had 100.08.

The Golden Tornado finished second to two-time champion Hempfield in the team standings. The WPIAL Rifle Individual Championships are Thursday at the Dormont-Mt. Lebanon Sportsmen’s Club.

SR resident Brown brings home win

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Slippery Rock resident Brady Brown drove Anurka to victory during harness racing action Wednesday at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.

The 6-year-old mare captured an $8,400 Claiming Handicap Pace for her second straight victory.
