Sentence court

The following defendants were sentenced Wednesday in Butler County Common Pleas Court by Judge Kelley Streib.

Darran Thomas, 31, of Dolton, Ill., was sentenced to serve six to 12 months in the county prison followed by 12 months of probation after pleading no contest to a charge of forgery filed by state police following an Aug. 17, 2021, incident. He is incarcerated and was given credit for time already served in jail.

Dominic James Blystone, 20, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 66 months of probation followed by 120 days of house arrest, pay fines totaling $2,500 and complete alcohol highway safety school, 40 hours of community service and a victim impact panel after pleading guilty to his first and second driving under the influence offenses and a charge of defiant trespass. State police filed the DUI charges following incidents on Oct. 15, 2020, and July 1, 2021, and Butler City police filed the defiant trespass charge following a Dec. 31, 2021, incident.

James Charles McKinney, 53, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of unsworn falsification filed by Cranberry Township police following a March 4, 2020, incident. In addition, he acknowledged that he is prohibited from purchasing firearms.

Patrick Cullen Boulanger, 43, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation after pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault filed by Butler City police following a July 15, 2020, incident.

Ryan Michael Mazzanti, 41, of Butler, was sentenced to serve six to 12 months in prison, but was immediately paroled to serve 24 months of probation including six months of house arrest and pay fines totaling $3,300 after pleading guilty to charges of habitual offenders, driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia in two cases. State police filed the first two charges following an Aug. 9, 2020, incident, and county detectives filed the paraphernalia charge following an Aug. 4, 2021, incident.

Ashley Marie Spare, 35, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation, pay fines totaling $400 and pay $2,256 in restitution after pleading guilty to charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct filed by state police following a June 11, 2020, incident and pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault filed by state police following a July 17, 2020, incident.

Emily Schutz, 25, of Allison Park, was sentenced to serve 72 hours to six months in the county jail, pay fines totaling $1,025 and complete litter pick-up and a victim impact panel after she was found guilty in a May 11 nonjury trial of DUI and driving a vehicle without a valid inspection charges filed by state police following a May 17, 2020, incident.

Justin Daniel White, 38, of Cabot, was sentenced to serve 12 months of probation including 14 days of house arrest, pay a $1,000 fine and complete alcohol highway safety school, 40 hours of community service and a victim impact panel after pleading guilty to charges of DUI and accidents involving damage filed by Adams Township police following a Feb. 20 incident.

William J. Bergbigler, 50, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation and pay a $1,000 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of unsworn falsification filed by state police following an Aug. 22, 2021, incident. In addition, he acknowledged that he is not permitted to purchase firearms.

Mannon Lee Rose, 33, of Butler, was sentenced to serve six months of probation and pay a $25 fine after pleading guilty to a charge of simple assault filed by Butler City police following an April 25, 2020, incident.

Shellie Rae Bergbigler, 50, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation and pay restitution totaling $707 after pleading guilty to charges of disorderly conduct and criminal mischief in one case and a charge of harassment in another case. State police filed charges in the first case following a May 22, 2021, incident, and Butler Township police filed the harassment charge following a Nov. 9, 2021, incident.

Travis John Dewitt, 32, of Ellport, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation including 30 days of house arrest, pay fines totaling $1,025 and complete alcohol highway safety school, 40 hours of community service and a victim impact panel after pleading guilty to his third DUI offense and a summary traffic violation filed by state police following an Aug. 21, 2021, incident.

Elmer Carl Scherder, 55, of Butler was sentenced to serve six months of probation including 14 days of house arrest, pay fines totaling $1,300 and complete alcohol highway safety school, 40 hours of community service and a victim impact panel after pleading guilty to charges of DUI and accidents involving damage filed by Butler Township police following an Oct. 19, 2021, incident.

Brandon Lee Russell, 29, of Butler, was sentenced to serve 24 months of probation, pay fines totaling $300 and pay restitution totaling $593 after pleading guilty to charges of defiant trespass, possession of heroin and two counts of retail theft filed in four cases. Butler Township police filed charges in three of the cases, and Butler City police filed the possession charge.

Christopher Arth Hughes, 40, of Renfrew, was sentenced to serve six months of probation including 14 days of house arrest, pay a $1,000 fine and complete alcohol highway safety school, 40 hours of community service and a victim impact panel filed by state police following an April 12, 2021, incident.
