27th Cranberry CUP scheduled for July 31
Several activities are scheduled for this year’s Cranberry CUP event.
The 27th annual event will commence on Friday, July 31, with the 21st Annual Golf Classic at Cranberry Highlands Golf Course. A kickoff party at 6 p.m. will also take place at the golf course.
On Saturday, Aug. 1, a softball tournament will begin at 8 a.m. at Graham and North Boundary parks, followed by an opening ceremony at 10 a.m. at Graham Park’s Miracle League Field. Also planned are a cornhole tournament at 4 p.m. at the community park’s basketball court and live music at 5:30 p.m. at the park’s Rotary Amphitheater.
The softball tournament will enter its elimination round on the morning of Sunday, Aug. 2, with the championship game concluding the weekend at 5 p.m. at Graham Park.
This year, funds raised from the event will go toward treatment of Roman Senft, a fourth-grader who was diagnosed earlier in the year with a malignant pediatric brain tumor, and aid to his family.
Roman is undergoing proton therapy at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn., Cranberry CUP president Robin Shaffer said at the June 25 Cranberry Township Board of Supervisors meeting.
“His mother says that Roman is optimistic and strong,” Shaffer said. “He is determined to spread positivity and give others hope in their own journey.”
Anthony Bertolino, Cranberry CUP board member and a township supervisor, said with 160 golfers participating, the event is sold out for the 21st straight year. The softball tournament drew a crowd as well, with 34 teams signing up.
“It’s a huge weekend here in Cranberry,” Bertolino said. “It’s a social event as much a beneficiary event.”
Bertolino emphasized the opening ceremony is the high point of the weekend, when the 2026 Inspirational Family is brought in on a fire truck and introduced. The ceremony also serves as an opportunity for the teams to get together.
