Seneca Valley School District will host its inaugural Best Buddies Walk on Saturday, June 1, at North Boundary Park in Cranberry Township.

The event is open to the public and will feature music, face painting and refreshments.

Registration takes place at 9 a.m., and the walk will begin at 10 a.m.

SV Unified Bocce Team will be in attendance and will play from 9 to 10 a.m.

Participants can register online by May 31 at runsignup.com/Race/PA/CranberryTwp/SenecaValleyBestBuddiesWalk. Registration costs $10 per person. T-shirts can be purchased for $15 by May 6.

The event will raise funds toward Best Buddies International, a nonprofit volunteer group promoting opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Haine Elementary School implemented a Best Buddies chapter this school year. According to the district, the chapter promotes “inclusion and friendship among students with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities through group activities.”
