Civil War reenactors set up camp at SRU

Community members and students at Slippery Rock University explored life as a Union Civil War soldier on campus Saturday, April 13, as 63rd Regiment Civil War reenactors set up camp on the quad.
Demonstrations and drills took place from 10 a.m. to noon at the SRU ski lodge, with artifacts and student research on the war also on display.
Students and members of the public also interacted with the reenactors, who portrayed a local regiment that originated from Beaver County, asking them questions about life as a soldier during the Civil War and in the Union Army.
The free event was sponsored by Phi Alpha Theta, the history honorary organization at SRU, and continued through Sunday.
