Margaret ‘Peggy’ Mawhinney

Margaret “Peggy” Elizabeth Mawhinney, 93, of Zelienople, formerly of Robinson Township, passed away on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, while under the care of Newhaven Court at Passavant Retirement Community.

Born May 9, 1930, in Ingram, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Owen and Josephine Helen Pacovsky Farnen.

She was a member of the Holy Trinity Church in Robinson. She was a Girl Scout leader, a craft and furniture entrepreneur with her daughter Kathy, and an artist. She was a talented seamstress, who made and repaired clothes for others. She also loved teaching, volunteering at her church and playing tennis well into her 80s.

Peggy leaves behind to cherish her memory her two children, Kathleen Kozmin and husband, Paul, and John Mawhinney and wife, Mary “Liz”; her sister-in-law, Arlene Mawhinney; her brother-in-law, Allen Mawhinney and his wife, Joan; her four grandchildren, Brian (Lorrie), Kelly (Chris), Shawna (Joe) and Jason; and her seven great-grandchildren, Dylan, Ryan, Zane, Austin, Macey, Megan and Liam.

In addition to her parents, Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Barbara; her granddaughter, Colleen; her brothers, Owen, Paul and Thomas; and her sisters, Francis, LaVerne, Mary and Lillian.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Janet Vlha, Nurse Debbie, and all the staff at Passavant for their excellent care of Peggy.

MAWHINNEY — Friends of Margaret “Peggy” Elizabeth Mawhinney, who died Tuesday, April 2, 2024, will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. A blessing service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Peggy will be laid to rest at Holy Souls Cemetery in Robinson Township.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Peggy’s honor to the Passavant Benevolent Fund, 105 Burgess Drive, Zelienople, PA 16063.
