Dollar General plans to host a grand opening community celebration for its new store in Zelienople at 125 N. Main St., on Saturday, April 13.

The event begins at 10 a.m., and will include customer giveaways including $10 gift cards to the first 50 adult customers and DG tote bags with product samples to the first 100 customers, according to a news release.

The company is also donating 100 new books to Connoquenessing Valley Elementary School through the Dollar General Literacy Foundation, which supports literacy in communities with Dollar General stores. The addition of the Zelienople store opens the opportunity for schools, nonprofit organizations and libraries within a 15-mile radius of the store to apply for Dollar General Literacy Foundation grants.
