SRU to host event celebrating local nonprofits

Slippery Rock University's Institute for Nonprofit Leadership and the Office for Community-Engaged Learning will recognize local nonprofit organizations with a Building Bridges event at 5 p.m., Friday, April 19, in the Smith Student Center Theater.

The event, formerly known as the Nonprofit Academy Awards Gala, will include networking opportunities, a silent auction, and words from SRU President Karen Riley and the founder of Pittsburgh Builds Bridges, Ebtehal Badawi.

An initiative promoting diversity and unity in Pittsburgh through art will be covered in Badawi’s keynote presentation.

Staff, volunteers and others involved with nonprofit organizations throughout Allegheny, Beaver, Butler, Lawrence and Mercer counties will be honored at the event.

Tickets for the event can be purchased on the SRU website by Wednesday, April 10. The cost is $15 for students, $50 for all other individuals or $350 for groups of eight.
