A McKeesport man was accused of identity theft after cashing a fraudulent check for more than $1,000, according to Adams Township police.

Rahneil D. Wasson, 41, was charged with several counts of felony forgery, access device fraud, and misdemeanor theft after an incident at Citizens Bank in November 2023.

Police said Wasson cashed one counterfeit check for $1,690 and attempted to cash another at the bank in Adams Township. Documents showed the checks were counterfeit as they were not issued, signed or authorized by the rightful account owner.

Wasson’s preliminary hearing has not yet been scheduled.
