Mars students receive Scholastic Arts Awards

Several Mars Area High School students were named in the 2024 Pittsburgh Arts Region Scholastic Art Awards, with some students earning awards across different categories.

Drawing & Illustration — Senior Ryan Nesbitt earned a Gold Key and a Silver Key; sophomore Sydney Denk received an honorable mention.

Painting — Senior Frank Vivian earned a Gold Key and a Silver Key; juniors Maggie Lyker and Alyssa Hipsky earned a Gold Key and an honorable mention; junior Ava Herbolich received a Silver Key and an honorable mention.

Honorable mentions also were awarded to seniors Gian DePretis, Ryan Nesbitt and Abby Wittmann; juniors Maverick Hart, Sami Mazurek and Niina Takeuchi; and sophomore Sydney Denk.

Mixed Media — Seniors Gian DePretis and Ryan Nesbitt, and junior Maggie Lyker earned honorable mentions.

Digital Art — Junior Alyssa Hipsky earned a Gold Key, junior Hannah Hodak earned a Silver Key and junior Vivien Miller received an honorable mention.

Printmaking — Junior Alyssa Hipsky earned a Gold Key and junior Vivien Miller earned an honorable mention.

Photography — Senior Ryan Nesbitt earned an honorable mention.

Film & Animation — Senior Miles Stoops earned an honorable mention.

Artwork will be featured at the annual Pittsburgh Arts Region Scholastic Art Exhibit through March 22 at the Carnegie Mellon University Hall of Fine Arts. An awards ceremony will be held from noon to 5 p.m. March 23.
