Evans City Public Library hosting author events

Evans City Library

The Evans City Public Library is hosting two authors: an international bestseller and a local writer with national recognition.

The library will host Upper St. Clair native Heather Terrell, who also writes under the name Marie Benedict, at the Glen Eden barn at 6:30 p.m. Friday, March 8 — International Women’s Day. She will focus her discussion on overlooked women in history and have a question-and-answer session followed by a book signing.

Her 2019 novel “The Only Woman in the Room,” a fictionalized biography of actress Hedy Lamar, was a New York Times bestseller.

Maria Barron, president of the Evans City library board of directors, said library administrators expect up to 200 people at the free event. Registration is required, and can be completed at evanscitylibrary.org.

The library will host local author Jolene McIlwain the evening of April 3, to discuss her collection of short stories, “Sidle Creek,” which has received national acclaim and mentions on NPR, according to Barron.

McIlwain’s event is free and open to the public.
