Butler, Moniteau cheer

HERSHEY — The Butler and Moniteau competitive cheer teams both placed among the top three in their respective divisions Saturday at the PIAA Competitive Spirit Championships at the Giant Center.

The Golden Tornado placed second in the coed division with a score of 85.2. McDowell won the coed title with a 92.5. Butler trailed McDowell only 90.7-90.6 after the preliminary round.

Moniteau finished a program-best third in the Class 2A small varsity division. The Warriors’ score of 85.3 trailed only champion Lansdale Catholic (93.6) and Richland (88.0).
