Kathleen Elise Dunkle Efaw, “Meemau,” 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, at 3:35 p.m. She was a longtime resident of Zelienople.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 50 years, Cary Ross Efaw of Zelienople; her daughters, Dawn (Cory) Welding of St. Clairsville, Ohio, and Heather Efaw (Matthew Haslinger) of Harmony; her son, Master Sgt. Nathan Efaw of Cibolo, Texas; her grandchildren, Geneva and Luke Welding, and Beau and Trinity Haslinger; her siblings, John and Doris Dunkle, Jay and Donna Payne, and Glenn and Corrine Vogel; her 11 nieces and nephews; nine great-nieces and great-nephews; and four great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was employed for many years at T-Shirt Loft, Evergreen Nursing Center, USIS, Kohl’s, Home Instead Senior Care and Anderson Merchandisers. She enjoyed her retirement by doing yardwork, sewing, cooking and traveling, especially to visit her kids. She was an active member of Calvin Presbyterian Church in Zelienople for more than 30 years, where she was a choir member, led Sunday school, was an elder, participated in Presbyterian Women’s Open Circle, and had a leading hand in the Ghana Mission Network and Without Reservation Bike Mission. Kathy loved her community, and she volunteered for many years at local schools and organizations. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

EFAW — Friends of Kathleen Elise Dunkle Efaw, who died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople. Additional viewing will be held from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

She will be laid to rest at West Middletown Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to Without Reservation Bike Mission, Ghana Mission Network via Calvin Mission Committee, Strand Theater Initiative, or the Calvin Church Choir.
