Dorothy “Dot” Brookes, 68, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 20, 1955, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Charles Van Dyke and Irma (Jeffreys) Van Dyke.

Dorothy graduated from Cardinal Dougherty High School in Philadelphia. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Philadelphia College of Textiles and Sciences and her master’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania. A longtime supporter of Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania, she was proud to ultimately serve as board chair. In her free time, Dorothy enjoyed traveling, cooking, book club, Pirates baseball and, above all else, visiting the beach. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 47 years, Glenn Brookes; her children, Sarah Brookes and Garrett Brookes and his wife, Catherine; her grandchild, Cameron Marie Brookes; her brothers, Charles Van Dyke and his wife, Bernadette, and John Van Dyke and his wife, Mary; her sister, Joan Haney and her significant other, Ray; and numerous nieces and nephews.

BROOKES — Friends of Dorothy “Dot” Brookes, who died Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the memorial Mass at 11 a.m. Thursday at Divine Grace Parish, St. Ferdinand Catholic Church, 2535 Rochester Road, Cranberry Township.

She will be laid to rest at Zelienople Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in her honor to Girl Scouts Western Pennsylvania at gswpa.org.

Funeral arrangements were entrusted to BOYLAN-GLENN-KILDOO FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 130 Wisconsin Ave., Cranberry Township.
