Karns City girls win in dominating fashion

Karns City outscored Forest, 31-0, in the middle quarters of a 51-10 win Wednesday night. Naomi Venesky finished with a game-high 15 points and Phoebe Brandon added 10 in the commanding girls basketball victory.

Kennedy Catholic 52, North Catholic 42 — Alayna Rocco had a game-best 20 points — including three treys — but the Trojanettes (10-5) suffered their first setback in almost a month in this non-conference clash. Brady Wehner chipped in with 13 points for North, which will be back in action at home against Derry Area Thursday night.

Boys Basketball

Hayden Smith and Dawson Camper combined for 30 points for Union Wednesday night, but the Knights fell short at home against Clarion-Limestone, 56-48.

Bowling

By sweeping their match against Beaver Falls at Family Bowlaway Wednesday, the Butler girls bowlers locked up the WPIBL Northwest section title. Kelsee McConnell had a 681 series and a high game of 254 for the Golden Tornado (9-0). Emma Schultz had a 188 high game.

Butler (boys) 5, Beaver Falls 2 — Greg Wilbert rolled a 554 series with a high game of 213. David Shever rolled a 543 series and Colin Dorcy added a high game of 208. The Golden Tornado boys improved to 7-2.

Butler will host Blackhawk for their final match of the regular season next Wednesday at Family Bowlaway. It will also be the teams’ Senior Night.

Freeport (girls) 7, Burrell 0 — The Yellowjackets swept this matchup against the Bucs at Wildlife Lanes Wednesday.

Freeport (boys) 5, Burrell 2 — No other details were provided for this match.
