Mark Salopek

Salopek

Mark Owen Salopek, 68, of Cranberry Township, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 21, 2024.

He was born in McKeesport and grew up in West Mifflin. He resided for the past 43 years in Cranberry Township.

He was loved by so many, especially his wife of 45 years, Mary Jane. He adored his three sons, Christopher Anthony, Eric Daniel and Zachary John; his daughter-in-law, Gretchen (Ludwig); and his cherished granddaughter, Joanna Louise.

He was preceded in death by his oldest son, Christopher Anthony, in 2020. He was loved by best friends/sisters-in-law, Christine Rohe and Patricia Costantini; and sister, Jane Kenovich. He was a doting and loving uncle to Adam (Aubrey Burke) Rohe and Madeline Rohe, Jennifer (Josh) Acevedo and David Kenovich. He was a loving granduncle to James and Thomas Biden and Jacob Acevedo. He was the son of the late John and Louise (Petrow) Salopek and son-in-law to the late Susanna (McNally) and Victor Costantini. He was loved by so many, who hold him dear in their hearts.

Mark attended West Mifflin South High School and later Penn Technical Institute for Electronics Technology, where he met his future wife, Mary Jane. He worked at AAI in Maryland and several locations in Pittsburgh as a technical writer, most notably at Fore Systems. He most recently was working at Certes Networks Inc. as vice president of engineering operations.

Mark loved his family, the Penguins, the Steelers, walking, music and the beach. He lit up a room just by being in it. He was funny and generous and went out of his way for everyone he met. Nothing made him happier than hosting his family for a delicious meal and introducing a skillfully selected dessert. His quick wit and hearty laugh will be greatly missed.

“I believe each day is a gift. Let’s not waste too much time complaining about things. Every new day is a great day to get something done. Tomorrow is promised to no man.” — Dick LeBeau

Rest in Peace, Mark O. We love you to bits and back.
