SV girls top North, 53-46

Natalie Hambly netted 26 points and drained five treys to lead Seneca Valley’s girls basketball team to a 53-46 victory over North Catholic on Thursday.

Alayna Rocco scored 17 points for the Trojanettes (3-3). Sarah Loughry and Brady Wehner netted 10.

Allison Sevin added 10 points for the Raiders, winners of five straight.

The Raiders (5-2) led 28-20 at halftime.

Knoch 50, Slippery Rock 24 — Adah Fuller accounted for 15 points and Karlee Buterbaugh another 14 as the Knights raced past the Rockets Thursday night. Knoch (4-4) started the contest accurate from the field and with a stifling defense, powering out to a 22-2 lead at the end of the opening frame.

Madison Romanovich had 14 points for Slippery Rock. The Knights will return to action after the holiday break, as they will travel to Freeport for a section tilt.

Boys Basketball

North Catholic’s Max Hurray led his team with 23 points — including a 9-for-9 effort at the free throw line — as the Trojans earned a 75-69 win at Knoch Thursday night. Nick Larson and Jude Rottmann both had 13 points for the winning team.

The Knights’ Jackson Bauman paced all scorers with 24 points and teammate Teegan Finucan had 16.

Penn-Trafford 53, Seneca Valley 41 — Kai West scored 12 points and Owen Congdon 11, but the Raiders fell on the road to the Warriors.

Redbank Valley 64, Freeport 53 — Brady Sullivan had a team-high 19 points and Gavin Glista added another 13, but the Yellowjackets were unable to come out on the right side of this matchup with the Bulldogs. The two teams were knotted up at 23 at the midway point.

Trinity 55, Mars 53 — Ryan Ceh netted 24 points and fellow big man Remi Black had 10, but the Planets came up short.
