Edward L. Smith, 86, of Zelienople, died peacefully at his home on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, surrounded by family.

Born April 2, 1937, in Evans City, he was the son of Samuel Smith and Mabel Hoffman Smith.

Ed was the owner and operator of Land Clearing Inc., Zelienople, president of Samuel Smith Inc., Evans City and a member of Local 66, Operating Engineers Union.

As a member of Divine Grace Parish, St. Gregory Catholic Church, Ed loved God and was a faithful, devoted Catholic. He was a former member of St. Matthias Catholic Church in Evans City, where he served as a member of the parish council and served on the Ritzert Hall Building Committee. In addition, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Ed enjoyed traveling with friends and family and loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.

Ed leaves behind to cherish his memory his wife of 68 years, Audrey Brittner Smith, whom he married at St. Matthias Catholic Church in Evans City on Jan. 22, 1955; his daughters, Charlene Nagle (Ken) of Zelienople, Mary Wildman (Davy) of Evans City, and Jennifer Welton (Matthew) of Leander, Texas; his son, Thomas Smith (Teresa) of Evans City; his grandchildren Julie, Christopher, Fallon, Rick, Lucas, Nickolas, Alyssa, Rachel, Renee, Kiersten, Ronald and Dmitry; and great-grandchildren, Gabrielle, Evan, Maya, Theo, Macy and Elias.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harold; and sons, Edward Jr. and Ronald Scott Smith.

SMITH — Family and friends of Edward L. Smith, who died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2023, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Divine Grace Parish, St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople.
