Exceptional employees across Butler County in nonprofits

The Butler Eagle asked nonprofits across Butler County to submit a number of their exceptional employees. Below are those that were submitted:

Mackenzie Hunt

Mackenzie Hunt is project coordinator at Community Partnership Inc. She has been employed by the nonprofit for one year.

She was nominated by program manager Nick Leturgey.

“Mackenzie is in charge of the day-to-day operations for the Butler County Food Bank. She is tasked with organizing and communicating with 28 pantries throughout Butler County to provide access to food for low-income individuals.

“Mackenzie is also in charge of expanding the food banks’ reach to more clients through recruitment of pantries in areas of need and submitting the proper paperwork to continue receiving the funds for Butler County to have a stand-alone food bank for the county.”

Jared Cypher

Jared Cypher is project coordinator at Community Partnership Inc. He has been employed at the nonprofit for 1½ years.

He was nominated by program manager Nick Leturgey.

“Jared is in charge of The Produce Cart's day-to-day operations. The Produce Cart is a mobile market that goes into areas that don't have access to a full grocery store.

“Jared is tasked with greeting customers at the market and providing them with exceptional customer service. He is also in charge of finding new locations that need service and working with community partners to be able to serve those areas.

“Jared started at the organization as a volunteer and played a big role in converting the bus used as the market into a safe and effective market.”

Hayley Merchant
Hayley Merchant

Hayley Merchant is senior director at Center for Community Resources. She has been employed at the nonprofit for nine years.

She was nominated by executive director Beth Gillan.

“Hayley lives our mission to make a difference in everyday lives. She works tirelessly to ensure the residents of Butler County are connected to resources that will improve their lives.

“Hayley coordinated the statewide distribution of over 6,000 winter coats to County Assistance offices throughout the state. Locally, Hayley oversees the Bundle Up Butler coat distribution.”

Katie Doerr

Katie Doerr is senior director at Center for Community Resources. She has been employed at the nonprofit for 12 years.

She was nominated by executive director Beth Gillan.

“Katie oversees our mental health crisis services, 988 suicide prevention line, drug and alcohol services and HIV case management. She works tirelessly to make sure those in need are helped.

“Katie can often be found shopping for laundry detergent, clothing items, or meeting someone at our walk-in to find out what they need and then she makes it happen.

“Katie has been instrumental in forging a successful partnership with local police and the 911 center to support those experiencing a mental health crisis.”

Frank Loose
Frank Loose

Frank Loose is a coffee technician at Butler Coffee Lab. He has been employed at the nonprofit for four months.

He was nominated by production manager Janette Stephenson.

“Frank performs all of his assigned duties without complaint, performs them with great accuracy and is able to work with others.”

Kristin Wilson
Kristin Wilson

Kristin Wilson is a music teacher at MHY Family Services. She has been employed by the nonprofit for 2½ years.

She was nominated by Amy Smith, MHY’s director of development and program advancement.

“Kristin Wilson was born to be a teacher. Hired in 2021 at MHY’s Longmore Academy, Kristin arrived with a passion to teach music education to students of all skills and abilities.

“As a self-taught pianist, Kristin believes that music can transform people’s lives, and she is dedicated to removing all barriers that would prevent her students from discovering their own musical talents. Since Kristin's arrival at Longmore, she has built a technologically enhanced music room and secured new guitars, percussion instruments, recorders and more.

“She even created a private practice room and a recording studio to support students with sensory issues or those who are building their confidence in performing. Kristin is inspired by the incredible growth and confidence her students are gaining from their music classes at Longmore Academy, and MHY is grateful for her passion and commitment to her students.”

Nichole Monday
Nichole Monday

Nichole Monday is a MST-psychiatric supervisor at MHY Family Services. She has been employed at the nonprofit since August 2015.

She was nominated by Amy Smith, MHY’s director of development and program advancement.

“Nichole was instrumental in working with the leaders in Butler County to launch the first multisystemic therapy-psychiatric care (MST-psych) program in Pennsylvania. MST-Psych is a groundbreaking new in-home treatment for children with significant mental health needs who are in crisis.

“Through her leadership, children have successfully remained in their homes, with their families, resolving their complex issues and restoring family stability.”
