Center for Community Resources helps keep residents connected with the services they need

Expert Opinion

How do we make a difference in our community?

Center for Community Resources was established in 2002 by Butler County Human Services to be the single point of contact for residents seeking information and services. Our mission is to make a positive difference in everyday lives by connecting people to a network of support and services essential for actively learning, working and living in the community.

CCR works in collaboration with other human service agencies to identify needs in the community and respond to assist anyone seeking help. The agency coordinates supportive services for individuals and families seeking information and referrals for mental health, behavioral health, intellectual disabilities, substance abuse and other human service needs. We offer eight core services for the community we serve. These services include the following:

— Base Service Unit (BSU): CCR’s program assists individuals who are not insured or underinsured in seeking mental health services. A referral is necessary before receiving county-funded mental health services, and the Base Service Unit will help individuals acquire that referral. BSU staff completes assessments with individuals to ensure they are provided with an unbiased choice of accessible and appropriate services. Individuals interested in the service may call the Base Service Unit at any time to receive a referral.

— Crisis Services: CCR is a licensed provider of 24/7 crisis intervention telephone, mobile, and walk-in services. Crisis services include assessment, support, screening and referral to additional services. Crisis intervention is available to anyone in Butler County who calls, texts, chats, walks-in or requests mobile support. Follow-up support and referrals also are provided as needed.

— 988: We provide telephone suicide intervention to all Pennsylvania residents.

CCR recently established an agreement with Butler County Emergency Services that formally outlines our long-standing collaboration. CCR and 911 have worked together for nearly two decades in Butler County to assist those experiencing suicidal thoughts or an emotional crisis. CCR staff could not do their lifesaving work without the assistance from Butler’s 911 center!

— Drug and Alcohol Case Management: CCR provides support and referral services to Butler County residents living with substance use disorders. Through Drug and Alcohol Case Management, CCR staff complete assessments, develop service plans, and link individuals to supports in the community. Case managers also provide housing assistance to those in recovery.

— Early Intervention Service Coordination: CCR staff can help address concerns regarding children’s development. CCR provides these services for children in Butler County aged 0 to 3 years old. CCR's services are family-centered and strength-based. Staff can connect families to resources for their child's assessed needs.

— Housing and Homeless Services: CCR provides assessment, intervention, financial assistance and linkage to supports for those experiencing homelessness in Butler County.

— Intellectual Disabilities/Autism Supports Coordination: Participants and their families are informed of services and supports available to them at the initiation of services. Using a person-centered approach and team process, CCR helps the participant and their family develop a service plan and choose qualified providers.

— Student Assistance Program: When schools, parents, students, or social service agencies recognize that a student is at risk for behavioral concerns, they can make a referral to CCR’s Student Assistance Program. CCR provides a liaison who will work with the school to screen and refer students to services that best fits their needs.

You can access CCR’s services by contacting the Information and Referral Department at 844-360-4372. CCR’s staff will listen to your needs and help you connect with resources.
