The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition celebrated its 30th anniversary and kicked off Breast Cancer Awareness Month on Tuesday, Oct. 3, by turning the fountain at the State Capitol East Wing pink.

The coalition reminds everyone that 38 women per day are diagnosed with breast cancer in Pennsylvania, but the five-year survival rate is 90% if detected early.

The pink fountain is meant to be a site of celebration for survivors, hope for those undergoing treatment, and a place of reflection for those who have lost a loved one or friend to breast cancer.

The fountain also represents the coalition’s determination to join all Pennsylvanians in an effort to find a cure for breast cancer for future generations.
