Cranberry Public Library hosts poetry workshop

Cranberry Public Library will host a poetry workshop with Tuesday, Sept. 26, with local poet John Conte.

Starting at 6 p.m., Conte will lead attendees through the process of writing a poem collaboratively, as well as discuss his role leading workshops in personal care homes across Western Pennsylvania through Advanced Home Health and Hospice.

“It’s rewarding to turn everyday people into poets,” Conte said.

Through these workshops John has published collections of poems written by attendees of his workshops. His most recent book titled “Visions of the Past Through Poetry” will be available for purchase at the event. All proceeds of book sales will benefit Helen’s Heroes, a local nonprofit organization that works to mitigate the effects of social determinants of health on the elderly and homebound populations.

Admission to the program is free and registration is required. Those interested in registering can do so by going to cranberry.librarycalendar.com or by calling the library at 724-776-9100.
