NASCAR Hall of Fame’s Dale Earnhardt Jr. is expected to make an appearance at Lernerville Speedway in Sarver late next month at an event that was already to be record-breaking for the dirt track.

On Sept. 26, the renowned race car driver will attend a High Limit Sprint Car Series event, which is slated to be the highest paying sprint car event in Lernerville Speedway’s history. The winner will drive away with $50,000.

“The $50,000-to-win Commonwealth Clash at Lernerville on Tuesday, Sept. 26 just got bigger,” High Limit Racing said via a post on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter.

Earnhardt and Dirty Mo Media, described as a Dale Earnhardt Jr. company, are “coming to the next High Limit Sprint Car Series event,” the post continued.

The race is held at Lernerville Speedway, at 313 N. Pike Rd., Sarver, in conjunction with Kyle Larson, Brad Sweet and the High Limit Sprint Car Series.

Earnhardt spoke about the event on a Thursday, Aug. 24 edition of the Dale Jr. Download podcast titled “Road Trip Recap From Martinsville.”

“I’ve not been to too many dirt races in my time, and so we’re going to have some fun, eat some track food, meet some fans, maybe sign some autographs or anything else Kyle (Larson) wants me to do,” Earnhardt said. “We’re going to just celebrate his series.”

Earnhardt said he offered to attend a High Limit Sprint Car Series event after Larson raced at a CARS Tour at Caraway Speedway in Sophia, N.C.

“For doing that, I said I’ll go to a High Limit Event ... and we agreed to go to Lernerville,” Earnhardt said.

Carol Gamble, the former public relations representative for Lernerville, said Saturday that this prize amount has been offered previously for other types of races, but this a first for a sprint race at Lernerville Speedway.

“(The race) should draw a nice crowd,” Gamble said.

Tickets for the event can be purchased at lernervilletickets.com.
