Cranberry Twp. exhibits watercolor artist

The Cranberry Township Municipal Center will exhibit work by the artist Beth Beiter all through September, the Cranberry Artists Network announced.

The show will be open during regular hours at the Cranberry Township Municipal Center, 2525 Rochester Road.

“Watercolor has been my medium of choice since the first time I did a watercolor painting in seventh grade — a white house with green shutters and a lazy orange cat sleeping in the window,” Beiter said. “I loved how the white paper made the sunlight look crisp, and the washes of blues across the front of the house created shadow and depth.”

After studying graphic design in Long Island, N.Y., Bieter worked as a freelance illustrator and for a greeting card company.

She later moved to Hilton Head Island, S.C., working in galleries and painting nautical maps for tourists.

For the last 13 years, she has operated her own graphic design business in Pennsylvania.

“Now that my three kids are older, I have regained the time to spend with my watercolors,” she said. “And I can devote much more of my time to painting those lazy cats just right as they lay sleeping in the window.”
