The Butler Area League of Women Voters commemorated the 50th anniversary of women’s suffrage on Aug. 25, 1970.

Mrs. Robert L. Eisler, president of the league, wore 1920s garb to recognize the occasion, and went to the Butler Post Office to demonstrate the use of automatic voting machines.

The U.S. Post Office also commemorated the anniversary with the release of a six-cent women’s suffrage postage stamp.

Jane Holt, a 1969 graduate of Butler High School and employee of the personnel department of Butler County, went to the Butler Post Office to learn about the voting process, as she would be eligible to register to vote in December.
