Throughout Independence Day in 1970, a steady stream of visitors took advantage of activities and games at the 10th annual Zelienople-Harmony Community Day.

The July Fourth festivities started with a flag raising ceremony and continued with two all-star ballgames, children’s races, a swim show, fireworks and a dance for teenagers.

A record number of parade entrants marched through Main Street, with the Riverside High School Marching Band taking first place in its category and the Cranberry Township Pasajeros taking first in the senior marching division.

Grace Reformed Church won first place in the float competition, and the Harmony Historical Society took second place, while eight youngsters won prizes in the bike decorating contest.
