Safe driving urged on Memorial Day
State police in Troop D will emphasize enforcement of speeding, safety equipment violations and detecting impaired drivers on Memorial Day weekend, according to a Wednesday, May 24, news release.
Police are also reminding drivers of the steer clear law, and to stay alert when approaching emergency vehicles on the road. Drivers should slow down and, if possible, pass a stopped emergency vehicle in another lane.
Additionally, seat belt violations and child seat belt infractions will be among offenses troopers will be looking for over the weekend, the news release said.
