State police assist Evans City-Seven Fields after resignations

State police will assist Evans City-Seven Fields Regional Police Department after the resignation of three officers this month.

“The public is not going to be without medical or major police coverage for incidents,” said Tom Smith, administrator for the regional police department.

Two full-time and one part-time officer resigned this month, according to Chief Joe McCombs who is one of the remaining three full-time officers.

Evans City-Seven Fields is covering 15 shifts of its 35 shifts in a normal week, according McCombs.

Smith said the department already has five applicants for the positions, and that loss of the former officers was part of “a national epidemic” facing police departments.
