Butler Catholic Kindergarten in 1970 educated children with multisensory materials.

The Feb. 25, 1970 edition of the Butler Eagle said Sister Madeline Marie used materials that children could touch and feel to teach them math, science and reading readiness, and used stories, creative play and music to teach them about people of other cultures.

She taught children other languages and taught basic Christianity to them simply but realistically.

Registration for September’s class at Butler Catholic Kindergarten was set to open March 7 of that year in the St. Peter School Building, and it also accepted non-Catholic students. Guardians just had to bring their birth or baptism certificate and a record of successful vaccination status to register a child for the class.
