MANOR TWP, Armstrong County — North Catholic put up a battle against Armstrong — holding the Riverhawks to just a touchdown in the first half — in a 35-19 football loss Friday night.

Jack Fennell took the second-half kickoff and raced to the end zone, but a penalty brought the ball back to North Catholic's 5-yard line. After Armstrong scored, Fennell had a great punt return made longer by an Armstrong facemask penalty.

Jason Siket then connected with Gavin Kamody for a 20-yard touchdown with 8:23 in the third quarter to make the score 14-7 after the Rylee Kummer PAT. The Riverhawks scored twice to go up 28-7 before Fennell closed the gap to 28-13 with a 5-yard touchdown with 1:33 left in the third quarter.

The final quarter saw Armstrong quarterback Cadin Olsen connect with Dozik Zablocki for a 32-yard touchdown pass to go up 35-13. Siket closed out the scoring with a 10-yard touchdown run with 20 seconds to play. A two-point conversion failed.

North Catholic (3-3, 1-2) hosts Hampton Friday.
