Double winners

Mars girls, boys lacrosse advance to final

Mya Cote and Kellen Fletcher both scored three goals to lead Mars to a 13-9 victory over Hampton in a WPIAL Class 2A girls lacrosse semifinal playoff at North Hills’ Martorelli Stadium Monday night.

Mars (14-3), the defending district champion, received two goals apiece from Charlotte Stamper, Grace Wu and McKenna Merritt while Zoey Krock found the net once.

Boys Lacrosse

Josh Seipp’s seven goals paced another dominating night for Mars’ boys in a 24-2 WPIAL Class 2A semifinal defeat of South Fayette.

Wesley Scurci scored five times, Austin Cote had four goals and Enzo Grieco added three scores for the Planets (18-1).

Boys Volleyball

Seneca Valley earned a spot in the WPIAL Class 3A title match by sweeping Shaler at Fox Chapel High School.

The Raiders (14-1) topped the Titans by scores of 25-17, 25-20 and 27-25. They will face North Allegheny for the district championship at 8 p.m. Wednesday at Robert Morris University.

Montour 3, North Catholic 1 — The Trojans fell in the WPIAL Class 2A semifinals at Moon High School.

Andrew Ubinger tallied 23 kills and 10 blocks for the Trojans. Rosario Alessandro dished out 30 assists.

Baseball

Mt. Lebanon 5, Seneca Valley 4 — Nate Malak had three hits and three RBI while pitching a complete game for the Raiders in this WPIAL Class 6A quarterfinal playoff loss at West Mifflin High School.

Brock White added two hits for SV, which finishes the season with a record of 14-8.

Softball

Moniteau’s season came to a close with an 8-2 loss to host Curwensville in a District 9 Class 2A first-round playoff game in Clearfield County.
