Public hearing set for GetGo liquor license

Adams Township Board of Supervisors set a date for an upcoming hearing to determine whether a proposed GetGo at the intersection of Three Degree Road and Route 228 would be able to get a liquor license.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Jan. 10.

“Tonight, we are not voting on anything,” said Chairman Russ Ford. “We are required by law to set a hearing in regards to this when we have been publicly notified.”

The GetGo proposal plan was rejected earlier this year by the Board of Supervisors and is amid the appeals process, but has not yet come up on the docket. The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board hearing is separate from GetGo's land use plan.

“We requested the fact that (since) the plan was not approved, that they continue this hearing to another date, and (GetGo) said no, they wanted it scheduled,” said Ford. “We are now faced with having to schedule it.”

The township is also making preparations for an upcoming holiday event, “Santa, Holiday Lights and Firework Show in the Park” at the Adams Township Community Park on Dec. 3.“Our light display this year is going to be double what the light display was last year, and it's been being worked on since January,” Ford said. “We are going to light up the park ... and have an even better firework show than we had last year.”The Santa drive-thru will be open from 6 to 8 p.m. at the front door of the municipal building, and the fireworks will begin at 8:15 p.m.“It's going to be a great event for the kids,” Ford said. “One of our ultimate goals is to build this park with a Christmas light show a little bit better and better each year. It's going to be our little piece of paradise here, along with the fireworks show.”
