Mars High School
The Mars High School graduation ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the school auditorium.
Student speakers will be
Chelsea McKiernan and
Teresa Dederer.• McKiernan is the daughter of Kevin and Kimberly McKiernan of Valencia. She belongs to the National Honor Society and has participated in the school color guard, winterguard, orchestra, Key Club and chorus.McKiernan is the recipient of a Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award, Academic Excellence Award, Woodmen of the World American History Award and Bucknell University Dean's Scholarship. She also was named a Rich-Mar Rotary Club Student of the Month.She plans to study biomedical engineering at Bucknell University.
• Dederer is the daughter of Jeffrey and Laura Dederer of Valencia. She belongs to the National Honor Society and was a concert master for the orchestra and ensemble, was a pit violinist for "Guys and Dolls," a French club member and peer tutor.Dederer is the recipient of a Marine Corps Scholastic Excellence Award and was named a Commended National Merit Scholar and AP Scholar with Distinction.She plans to study pre-medicine at the Honors College at the University of Pittsburgh.Senior class officers are <B>Ally Demitriadis</B>, president; <B>Shawn Wharrey</B>, vice president; <B>Maggie Comport</B>, secretary; and <B>Courtney Shields</B>, secretary.
