A Zelienople woman driving the wrong way on Interstate 79 in Cranberry Township showed signs of impairment and was taken to the hospital following a two-vehicle crash in mid-January, according to police.

Michele L. Dannenmueller, 41, struck the the vehicle of an Oakdale man while driving south in the northbound lanes of I-79 in Cranberry Township around 10:30 p.m. on Jan. 18, a Monday, Feb. 2, news release from state police said.

The news release indicated Dannenmueller would be charged with DUI/Unsafe Driving.

Police said both drivers experienced minor injuries, but only Dannenmueller was taken by Cranberry Township EMS to UPMC Passavant-Cranberry for treatment.

The crash occurred near mile marker 78.8, police said.

Dannenmueller was driving a 2021 Jeep Wrangler and struck a 2012 Volkswagen driven by Ahmed S. El Daour, 23, of Oakdale, according to police.
