William Seibel
William Lee Seibel arrived home to the arms of our Lord on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2024, following a valiant battle with cancer.
Born in Wilkinsburg on July 6, 1949, to Conrad “Junie” Seibel Jr. and Mary “Mame” Seibel, he was the eldest son of five children. The Seibels traded city for country and settled in Evans City in 1957.
“Seib” was a celebrated school athlete who played baseball, basketball and football. He held the Little League home run record for decades in Evans City and was instrumental in securing wins as No. 26 for his Seneca Valley Raiders varsity teams.
His passion and energy for sports would last a lifetime. He played many league sports; baseball, softball, bowling (boasting several perfect games), and his favorite sport of all, golf. Aside from his daughter, golf was the great love of his life. Well into his 70s, he was a force on the course. He played often and well, achieving four career hole-in-ones, two at Connoquenessing Country Club, where he belonged and played golf for nearly 20 years.
Bill made his career in the roofing industry. As a young man just out of college, he operated his own company, William L. Seibel Roofing. He went on to work for several large outfits including Single Source Roofing and Benchmark, which allowed him to travel the nation. Bill worked on projects in every state but Alaska, Hawaii and Oregon. He visited every major U.S. city, and, of course, golfed in each one.
He was a storyteller, a prankster, and a magnetic character who enthralled us with his big wonderful laugh, charisma and mischievous smile. He lived a good life and was loved by many. All of us will remember him for the joy he brought to our lives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Conrad Seibel; and beloved niece Melissa, now reunited in the glory of Heaven.
He leaves behind a daughter, Connie Seibel; sister, Patricia (Jim) Dunbar; brothers, Tom Seibel, Bruce Seibel and Wayne (Susan) Seibel; nieces and nephews, Dawn (John) Yates, Bonnie (Bruce) Wolfe, Bryan (Lisa) Seibel, Michael Seibel, Amanda (Kevin) Wilhelm and Teddi (Josh) Davis; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; friend and former wife, Marcia Brooks Norton; stepdaughter, Shelley (Bill) Fusaro; and lifelong best friend, Patrick.
For those he leaves behind, each time we have a really good laugh, we will think of Bill and know that he is always with us. He will watch over all of us until we meet again.
