Planets dominant in 42-6 romp
Mars’ defense was stout against a potent Indiana offense and Planets running back Evan Wright rushed for 192 yards and three scores as Mars claimed a 42-6 Greater Allegheny Conference football win on the road last Friday night.
Junior quarterback Luke Goodworth completed 15 of 23 passes for 189 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions.
Both scoring tosses went to sophomore Gabe Hein, who snagged seven passes for 121 yards.
Connor Hartle led the defensive effort with three quarterback sacks and Jacob Maple intercepted a pass.
Eric Kasperowicz added eight tackles against the Little Indians (2-2).
Mars (3-1) plays a non-conference game Friday at Moon.
Boys Golf
Seneca Valley’s Tyler Garvin shot a 1-under 31 at Clover Hill Golf Course to pace the Raiders in a 174-195 win over North Hills.
After carding a bogey on two of the first three holes, Garvin had three consecutive birdies.
Anthony Cardosi and Vinci Villella both added a 35 for SV.
Logan Filipcic fired a 38 for the Indians.

Girls Volleyball
Lily Javor and Ella Nicotra both had 12 kills for Mars, but the Planets dropped a 3-1 decision to North Catholic.
Cecilia Christy led Mars’ defensive effort with 12 blocks and Alaina Graham contributed 16 digs.
No stats were reported for the Trojanettes, who won the match by scores of 25-18, 25-16, 24-26 and 25-17.
Boys Soccer
After falling behind to Shaler in the first half, Seneca Valley dominated the rest of the way in a 6-1 defeat of the Titans at NexTier Stadium.
Cole Kamarec scored three times while Tyler Mazanek, Evan Howard and Tyler Holloway each added a goal for the Raiders. Holloway’s tally came on a penalty kick.
