3 Seneca Valley students become National Cyber Scholars
For their excellent performance in the CyberStart America online cybersecurity training program, three Seneca Valley Senior High School students — senior Haihan Xu and freshmen Sawyer Shoemaker and Madeline Zimmer — have been awarded the title of National Cyber Scholar by the National Cyber Scholarship Foundation.
All three students have earned scholarships to attend the NCSF’s Cyber Foundations Academy, a four-month practical cybersecurity course which offers the chance to earn a GIAC Foundational Cybersecurity Technologies Practitioner Certification.
Upon completion of this course, these students will be given the opportunity to take one of two higher-level courses for the chance to earn a Global Information Assurance Certification.
“This is an incredible program that provides a valuable opportunity for our students to gain marketable skills in an area of extraordinarily high need,” said Dean Walker, Seneca Valley Senior High School gifted support teacher.
