Cranberry Township police have accused a man of taking inappropriate pictures of a 9-year-old girl in Walmart Saturday, May 13.

Jamie Sanchez Lopez, who police indicated is not a legal U.S. citizen, was charged with felony criminal attempt to photograph and misdemeanor possession of an instrument with criminal intent.

Lopez was placed in Butler County Prison and is being held in lieu of $25,000 bail.

Walmart staff contacted police at 5:15 p.m. on May 13, saying they witnessed a man walking behind a 9-year-old girl and using his cellphone to take a picture up her skirt.

An employee approached the man, who then fled the scene on foot, police said. Officers found him approximately 1,000 feet from the store.

The man had no identification, but was later identified as Lopez, according to court documents.
