Many county students went back to school this week, but the summer fun continues in all corners of Butler. Picnics, festivals, concerts and charity bike rides refuse to slow up. As long as the county residents are feeling adventurous, there’s an activity for you in the coming days.

Speaking of fun, if you want to hear the latest weekend entertainment, you can check out the Butler Eagle account on Tik Tok and hear it straight from me every Thursday! Follow @butlereagle and watch the staff give you the latest news and a few shenanigans too.

If you drive past the Clearview Mall in Center Township, a slew of carnival vendors and a Ferris wheel have gone up almost overnight. If you haven’t had enough lemonade or funnel cakes, you should definitely stop by at 4 p.m Thursday, Aug. 25, through Sunday, Aug. 28, to experience the fun.

Break out the blanket Thursday, Aug. 25, and picnic in Succop Nature Park, 154 W. Airport Road in Penn Township, while listening to some live music starting at 6:30 p.m. Dos Acoustics, a country, pop and rock music band featuring six string, bass and creative use of a looper pedal, will be entertaining.

The Butler Italian Festival will have food, music and wine to celebrate the rich heritage of Italy. The event will take Main Street from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26; noon to 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27; and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28.

Butler County Symphony Association’s free summer concert series will feature the symphony’s bassoon section with Steve Erhin, Amy Baker and Chris Savannah at noon Friday, Aug. 26, via Facebook or in person in the symphony building, 259 S. Main St.

The Butler County Humane Society and Moraine State Park have organized a Dog Hike on the Sunken Garden Trail at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. The hike lasts 1.9 miles and is a great way to give you and your pup exercise and quality time with other pet owners.

The Preston Pearl is offering the chance to watch eagles and osprey in action over Lake Arthur at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26. The pontoon boat leaves from the North Shore, 225 Pleasant Valley Road, Portersville, and the cost is $17. Take binoculars and be sure to preregister by calling 724-368-9185.

Cut footloose with the Butler Two Steppers dance club at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 26, at the Tanglewood Center, 10 Austin Ave., Lyndora. Line dance and couple dance to your heart’s content!

The Mars Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7505 is having its annual Fire & Iron Station 342 Ride to benefit Lizzy’s Bikes, which provides bicycles to struggling families. Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at 331 Mars Valencia Road, with kickstands up at 11 a.m.

The annual Craft and Vendor Show at 297 Evans City Rd. will benefit students of the Butler Area School District. Starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, shop local artisans and vendors for a good cause.

The last Slippery Rock Bands on Bricks starts at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the corner of Main and New Castle streets. The band Hayday will keep the party going until 7 p.m.

Author Randall Silvis will return to the Butler Little Theatre, One Howard St., for a talk on his latest book “The Deepest Black” at 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is requested by calling 724-287-6781 or emailing info@bltgroup.org.

The “Strike out for DA” bowling benefit will help the family of David “DA” Rankin, who has early onset atypical Parkinson’s disease. It runs from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Sherwood Lanes, 11 Lyn-Mar Plaza, Lyndora. One ticket includes a six-player lane, three hours of bowling and shoes. Close out the summer at EDCO Park in Evans City, 154 W. Main St., with a party! The picnic event begins at 11:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 28, and goes until 7:30 p.m. Live music, swimming and food makes it a can’t miss salute to summer’s end!
